Wine delivery london12/31/2023 ![]() Organic and biodynamic labels also feature, but their overriding philosophy is an appreciation of origin, or terroir – the taste and character that a certain location gives to a vintage (so much so that they named their central London wine bar Terroirs). Their own lists have grown and grown over the years, and they now source from small vineyards around the globe, with special attention to Italy, Spain, Austria, Australia and the USA. Natural wine may be flavour of the decade, nudging onto restaurant wine lists around the country, but the team at Les Caves have been championing it for years, having started out in 1988 with a battered van, a handful of obscure wines from south-west France and a determination to avoid the pomposity of the traditional wine world. £80 for four bottles a month £120 for six. ![]() The team delivers to London postcodes in their own van, albeit not in a Robin Reliant. Sommelier Ben McVeigh’s unusual finds include the deeply fruity Chatzivaryti Goumenissa from Greece, which produces some really interesting vintages right now, and biodynamic whites such as the Domaine Goisot Bourgogne Aligote. We prefer the latter, usually adding in a bottle or two of 3B Blanc de Blancs, a nice unfiltered summer fizz from Portugal (not a country normally associated with bubbles). Now there’s the chance to benefit from their experience and take out a flexible subscription – there’s no minimum membership period, and it can be paused any time – with options for white, red or mixed cases. But that would be far from the reality: Peckham Cellars was opened on Queen’s Road in 2019 by three friends whose CV takes in places such as Morito, Rovi and The Jones Family Kitchen, with a menu of small plates such as salt-beef sando and roast hispi showcasing the brilliant wine list. Club del Vino, therefore, sounds exactly like the sort of place Del Boy would take a date and order a Crème de la Menthe before falling through the bar hatch. Previously known as Waterloo Wines, Lant Street Wine is also a trusted supplier to London’s restaurant trade…and has been for over thirty years. No matter how achingly hip Peckham gets, those of a certain vintage will forever associate the London neighbourhood with the long-running sitcom Only Fools and Horses. ![]() Hire prices start at £125 per hour but please contact us for a chat about your event and how we can make it work for you.
